Youth embrace Kuils River Health Day |

On Saturday, 21 August, more than 200 Kuils River community members, mainly young people, enthusiastically participated in health assessments at the Silversands Secondary School. The event was part of the schools-based partnership between Live the Future and the Metro-North Education District.

The Live the Future Programme enables Du Noon youth to work with international talent |

Jita Ndaba, a talented young artist from the Du Noon community, mobilised six youth and drama groups in Du Noon - Black Ink Arts Movement, Kamva Arts Movement, Sibamdene Youth Organisation, and the Khululeka, Zusakhe and Sophumelela Youth Clubs to produce and participate in a drama show that was held on Saturday 14th August 2010. The youth underwent training by Sango Tajima in preparation for the big event.

Project leaders receive training from Staffing Direct |

A critical part of each project design in the Western Cape Schools' Project is to involve as many community members as possible and appoint a project leader to drive the project. In a welcome development the Staffing Direct Training Academy, a SETA-accredited and AAA-rated training organisation based in Cape Town, offered to provide a complimentary two-day project management training course for all 53 appointed project managers in this Western Cape Schools Project.

Wesbank Wellness Day organised by Live the Future facilitators |

On Saturday 5th June a Wellness Day - incorporating soccer matches, dance performances by all age groups from toddlers through to young adults, poetry readings and a HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT) campaign - was held at the Wesbank Sports Ground. It was enthusiastically attended by approximately 3,000 children and 2,500 adults, including the Mayor and the ward councillor.
